Aerope

Ares fell in love with a young mortal woman named Aerope. The myths don’t record much about their love affair aside from the fact that they had a son together. Sadly, giving birth to a god’s son was too much for this young woman and she died in childbirth. The child survived, however; Ares made sure the baby was able to suckle from his dead mother’s breasts.

Harpinna

Harpinna was the daughter of Asopus, a river-god. The union of Ares and Harpinna produced a son, Oenomaus, who grew up to become king of Pisa. He also founded a city, which he named after his mother. (Some myths claim that Sterope, one of the Pleiades, and not Harpinna was the mother of Oenomaus, but in these myths Ares is still his father.)
